“Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground. So God created mankind in his own image, in the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.” – Genesis 1:27-28
From the beginning of time, people have searched for the answer to the question, “Why am I here?” Take for example Pastor Rick Warren’s book The Purpose Driven Life. Statistics show that this book not only topped bestseller charts, but it also remained on the New York Times Best Seller list for 90 weeks in a row. Written in 2002, it has sold approximately 50 million copies in 85 languages to date. Warren clearly struck a chord with humanity when he decided to tackle the topic of discovering our life’s purpose.
American actor Jim Carrey once said, “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer.” The truth is human beings were created to be in relationship with God. Only in Christ can you truly find lasting meaning and purpose. Everything else will leave you disappointed and longing for more. Knowing that we would wrestle with this, God gives us a clear answer in Scripture to the meaning and purpose of our lives.
In the beginning chapters of Genesis, God’s creation was in perfect harmony. Until humanity chose to reject God’s good rule with the original sin (Genesis 3). This brought about a separation between us and God. The order of creation, including mankind’s purpose, was disrupted.
There is, however, good news! “For God so loved the world that He sent His one and only Son, that whosoever believes in Him should not perish, but have eternal life” (John 3:16). Jesus gives you and me the opportunity to be restored to God and find our true purpose in Him. Only in relationship with God will you find lasting fulfillment and meaning.
Once you put your faith in Jesus Christ, God can begin to gradually unveil and reveal the details of how to carry out your unique and God-given purpose on earth. It’s easy to get sidetracked with lesser pursuits, so it is important to periodically reflect and ask ourselves: Where have I been searching for purpose outside of Jesus? Is it in work or career? Wealth? Family? Another Relationship? Focus on the ultimate relationship in Jesus, and as you follow Him – He will make your life purpose clear.
When it’s sweltering 🌞
Limit use
When it’s hot outside, frequent usage can cause your phone to overheat. To keep it cool, turn on Airplane mode, lower the screen’s brightness, and shut down some apps.
Keep it cool
The easiest way to prevent overheating is to keep your phone out of direct sunlight. You should also make sure not to leave it in a hot car.
Take the case off
Wearing layers when it’s hot doesn’t make sense for you or your phone. When the temperature spikes, take your phone out of the case to keep it from overheating.
Wait to use it
When your phone overheats, wait about 15 minutes so it returns to a normal temperature before using it again.
When it’s freezing ❄️
Turn it off
Cold air can wreak havoc on your phone. The screen may become unresponsive and even shut down. Powering your device off mitigates these problems.
Keep it close
Use your body heat to keep your phone warm. Tuck it in a pocket in your pants or coat. If you need to make a call, try a headset.
Get a weatherproof case
There are cases designed to protect your device in extreme temperatures. Weatherproof doesn’t always mean waterproof though, so find one that can resist snow and ice as well.
Wait to charge it When lithium-ion batteries get cold, the chemical reactions that produce electricity slow down, sapping the power. Allow your device to warm up for 30 minutes before charging

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” – Philippians 4:6-7
“Money can’t buy me love. It’s true. The point is this, I want happiness.” – John Lennon at the height of his success with the Beatles.
There is no amount of money, fame, or power that can satisfy our quest for happiness. No matter how hard we try, we continue to search for happiness in the wrong places. Deep down we know this is true. So, how do we find the happiness we all long for?
Think about all the happy people you know. What do they have in common? All truly happy people have a sense of peace. Happy people are at peace with themselves, with others. They are not living angry, hostile, or bitter lives. The good news for us is that we too can experience peace.
The Bible says true happiness can only be reached when we have peace with God. So how do we find peace with God? Jesus came that we may have life – but He doesn’t stop there. He came that we could have life abundantly. This is the true happiness we all long for!
When Jesus laid down His life at the cross, He took on all our sin, making us right with God. He gave us a new life, an abundant life – a life transformed by the power of His love and grace. When we really understand what Christ has done for us on the cross, inviting us to a life of peace with God – happiness will result!
If this is a happiness that you have not experienced, start today. Stop looking for happiness and turning up empty. Accept Christ’s gift of true and lasting peace for all eternity.
