We see that God has the power to use any situation for His glory and for good. When bad things happen it’s not the WHY question that should consume our thoughts, but the HOW? How can God be glorified in this situation? How can I encourage, support, and help others while displaying the love of Christ? How can we seek to bring good out of a bad situation? This perspective shift is helpful in reminding us of God’s sovereignty and power, but it leaves unanswered a follow-up question. WHY doesn’t God just do something to stop (the layoff, the heartbreak, the loss of a loved one, the injustice…etc.) in the first place?

God’s response to all these frustrations as written by King David in the Psalms is simply, “Don’t worry.” It can seem almost patronizing in its simplicity: Don’t worry. How can God say, “Don’t fret” about all the evil people in the world who always seem to come out on the winning side? These are the people who avoid any kind of consequences for their actions; they take advantage of others and still manage to make it to the top. And all God says is “Don’t worry about it?” Why would God say that?

The Word of God is reminding us in this Psalm that EVERY person will one day answer to God for their actions. So those who APPEAR to get away with corruption, abuse of power, and all kinds of evil in this life, will face God’s judgment in the end. In the meantime, we are to surrender our anger and frustrations to God. This requires REAL faith.

You see, real faith is not just revealed when life is easy, but, most of all, when it’s hard.  It’s about trusting that God remains in control even when tragedy strikes, evil attacks, and suffering occurs. It’s about choosing to trust God for WHO He is and WHAT He’s done, even in the pain and heartache. Are you willing to focus on the question, “HOW to bring good” versus “WHY does God allow it”?

What steps can you take now to protect your privacy online?

–Use two-factor authentication on every app that offers it

–Install VPN software on your personal computers and smartphone. This hides your browsing habits and protects your from fraudster who try to access your phone when you are on a Wi-Fi network.

–Also install antivirus and anti-malware apps on your personal devices.

–Review every app on your phone and turn off “location settings” except for apps you use regularly that require location information, such as Waze for traffic conditions, weather and apps that provide directions.

–Review and understand privacy settings on your social media accounts, particularly Facebook and WhatsApp. “You can’t have privacy and use Facebook”

–Use a search engine other that Google, because Google’s business model (like Facebook) generates profit by knowing what you do online.

–Be careful not to post identifying information about your family or work on social media accounts. Fraudsters are skilled at combing facts about people to impersonate them online.

–Don’t accept friend requests from people you don’t know (even on LinkedIn) and don’t allow anyone to follow you on Twitter.

–Go to your Google account and run a “privacy checkup”

–Remember when Gmail is secure, it indexes all the text in emails you send and receive in order to serve up relevant advertising as you surf the web.

–Don’t use social media accounts to log in to other websites.

–Check out as a “guest” when you purchase something on an e-commerce site where you don’t shop frequently.

–For messaging, use Signal or Apple’s Messages app instead of Facebook Messenger or WhatsApp.

–Remember, everything you post online creates a digital trail about you, and it will live on the web forever…

St. Patrick is the patron saint and national apostle of Ireland. Contrary to popular belief, he wasn’t Irish. He was born around A.D. 375 in Britain, probably somewhere in Scotland, though the exact date and place are unknown.

When he was 16, St. Patrick was kidnapped by pirates and sold into slavery in Ireland to herd and tend sheep.

After six years in captivity, he escaped after having a dream sent by God, telling him to leave Ireland by going to the coast where he would find a ship waiting to sail to Britain.

He later became a priest and a bishop and is known for two short works: Confessio and Letter to Coroticus.

After overcoming doubts, and motivated by a deep sense of purpose, he returned to Ireland, where he preached and converted people for 40 years, amid opposition and formidable difficulties—not a small accomplishment, given the circumstances at that time.

As you can see, St. Patrick’s life and spiritual quest were guided by a strong sense of purpose. Difficulties and obstacles didn’t matter. They just made him stronger and helped him to achieve what he set out to do: share the gospel across Ireland.

Although most people nowadays know St. Patrick thanks to the popular parades that are held all over the world to celebrate Irishness (not to mention the custom of raising a glass of green beer to the saint), there are several interesting facts that guided his life and that we could all learn from to do better in our own lives.

Makes: 8 servings

Ingredients

1 cup rice (uncooked)

10 ounces broccoli

3 cups chicken (cooked)

2 Tbsp. margarine or butter

¼ cup flour

2 cups chicken broth

¼ cup Parmesan cheese (optional)

Preparations

1. Cook rice in 2 cups of water.
2. Remove chicken off the bone.
3. Melt margarine in large saucepan. Add flour and stir.
4. Slowly add chicken broth to margarine and flour mixture. Stir to remove lumps and thicken.
5. Add cheese and stir.
6. Add rice, broccoli and chicken. Stir.
7. Put in a casserole pan and bake at 350 F for 30 minutes.
