7 simple habits of really happy people

Even if negativity sometimes seems like the easier mindset to fall into, we all know that happiness is by far the most joyful and fulfilling way to live our lives. Happy people are more satisfied on the job, and they are more engaged in their work and more productive.

Have you ever wondered what really happy people do every day to keep their spirits up? Read on to find out.

1. They believe in themselves

Confidence has always been the key to feeling good about yourself, and happiness is no exception. When you believe in yourself—and you have the confidence to reach for your dreams—then happiness is the natural result.

2. They are grateful for what they have

When you feel blessed with everything that you do possess, you’re much more likely to feel happy about your present-day work, life, and circumstance. Be grateful for what you have, and be sure to tell the people who work with and for you that you appreciate all they do for you, your customers, and your company.

3. They don’t settle—ever

No matter how easy it might be to give in to complacency, especially in terms of where you might be in life, no truly happy person has ever settled for less than what they felt like they deserved. Set the bar high, on and off the job, and focus on achieving your goals each and every day of the week.

4.  They are forgiving and resilient in nature

While being the better person isn’t necessarily the easiest path, it’s the one that will leave you feeling happier than your negative and resentful counterparts. Always take the high road, and encourage those around you to follow your example.

5. They are respectful

Feeling good about your actions toward others, especially when you don’t agree with them, will definitely make you feel happier. Begin paying more attention to how you interact with others in your life, and watch how your mood lifts.

6. They surround themselves with happy people

Even though many of us find comfort in commiseration, it’s true that the friends you choose ultimately play a huge role in how you feel about the world. If you fill your circle with people who are as happy as you want to be, then soon you’ll be feeling the same way yourself.

7. They aren’t afraid to change things up

When your old routines don’t serve you any longer, then you can’t be afraid of trying something new in order to bring better futures to your door. Happy people are dynamic, constantly trying new routines and habits that make them feel better about themselves. You can do the same too.

If You Ever Hear This Four-Word Phrase When You Pick Up the Phone, Hang Up Immediately

Paul Marcarelli is not on the other line. For those wondering who Paul Marcarelli is, just watch any Verizon commercial from the mid-2000s, or any modern day Sprint commercial. He became famous for his six-word catchphrase, ‘Can you hear me now? Good,’ but now a variation of that very phrase is a go-to weapon for phone scammers.

If you receive a call and immediately hear the phrase ‘Can you hear me?’ hang up. The phrase is used to coax you into saying ‘yes,’ a word that, if said in your voice, is as good as gold for con artists.

The person on the other end will be recording the call, and can now use the track of you saying ‘yes’ to access your sensitive information. But how? you may ask. The three letter word is used frequently by companies to confirm account changes, security settings, and purchases, and now this sordid sort has extensive access to your stuff.

To avoid these nefarious calls, be wary of unknown or unrecognizable numbers, always keep your personal information private, and don’t be afraid to question the legitimacy of the caller.  Although countering back with ‘Can YOU hear me now?’ may seem like the ideal way to really stick it to the scammer, it’s probably best to resist that urge.

LETTING GO OF RELATIONSHIP REGRET

“For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins.” Matthew 6:14-15

We could go on and on with case after case and situation after situation proving the same thing – relationships, divorce and remarriage are very complicated. So how does a divorced Christian navigate remarriage? Now don’t miss this: If the remarriage you’re considering is the result of an adulterous affair that led to your divorce – it is always wrong. However, if the new marriage has nothing to do with the divorce that occurred, there are a few things to deal with before saying ‘I do.’

  1. Ask God for forgiveness. ‘But my spouse cheated and sinned against me. Why do I need forgiveness?’ The truth is, no one except Jesus is 100% innocent. We are all sinners. And anyone who has gone through a divorce needs to ask God’s forgiveness for their part – no matter how big or small.
  2. Forgive your Ex. For some this may seem impossible, but with Jesus it’s not optional. We are to forgive others in the same way that God forgives us (Ephesians 4:31-32). And if we don’t, He will not forgive us. Woah, that’s strong!
  3. Ask your ex and kids for forgiveness. Whether in person, in writing or over the phone, make sure you acknowledge that you fell short in this relationship. This is key when children are involved. Make sure that once your kids are of an age to understand, you acknowledge your part in the broken relationship and ask for their forgiveness.
  4. Take your Time. Whether it’s a lack of forgiveness or an unwillingness to forgive, unresolved emotional baggage and hurt will be taken out on the new spouse. You owe it to that person to take the time to heal and get right with God.

Divorce is never God’s plan. Marriage is intended to be for life. But for those who are divorced, once you’ve sought God’s forgiveness, you’re forgiven for good. Don’t hold onto the guilt and regret. Trust God at His Word that “if we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us and cleanse us of all unrighteousness (1 John 1:9).”
