Fall Asleep Faster

  • No Screens Before Bed: The bright light from your phone or tablet shining right in your eyes trick your brain into working in daylight mode. Shut off the screen well before you go to bed for a better nights sleep.
  • Nap Between 1PM and 3PM (not on workdays-LOL!): For most people, your circadian rhythm creates a daily, mid-afternoon drowsiness. That’s the perfect time to take a quick nap if you can. Set your phone’s alarm and doze for 20 minutes and wake up ready to go.
  • Feet Regulate Temperature: Your feet and hands affect your whole body’s temperature as blood flows through them. Put on socks to warm up or stick bare feet out from under the covers to cool down when you can’t or don’t want to adjust the room temperature.
  • Sleep Rituals Can Help: Try to do the same things each evening before bed, including having a regular time to turn off the lights and get some shut-eye. Your body will key into the pattern and naturally fall asleep faster.
  • Control The Noise: White noise from a fan or white noise generator works wonders eliminating those little distracting sounds that can keep you wide awake in an otherwise perfectly quiet room. Ear plugs work much the same way.
  • Breathing Exercises, Meditation and Praying: Practice a simple meditation routine or breathing exercises as you lie down, clearing your mind and calming your body for bed. Expressing prayers of gratitude for the day works wonders as part of your sleep ritual.

THERE IS ONLY ONE UNFORGIVABLE SIN

“Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven.” – Matthew 12:31

The thought of an unpardonable, or unforgivable sin has brought grief to many people throughout history. Some people believe that committing suicide is unforgivable. Others talk about “seven deadly sins” that can doom you to an unpardonable state.

Christians have long debated what the unpardonable sin is. Some Christians even live in fear, terrified that they may have committed the unpardonable sin and that God has already separated Himself from them; but perhaps that guilt and fear is unnecessary.

Now let’s stop here a moment. If you worry that you have committed the unpardonable sin, then that’s one of the clearest signs you have not. The very fact that you are bothered by your sinfulness shows that the Holy Spirit has not abandoned you!

The only unpardonable sin is total rejection of Jesus Christ, also referred to as blasphemy against the Holy Spirit. The one thing that God cannot forgive is when we reject His Son all our lives. God will not forgive us for rejecting the incredible thing His Son did for us, paying the penalty so that our sins could be washed away when we have repentant faith in Him.

Except for the sin of blasphemy against the Holy Spirit, whatever evil you have done and however bad you think you are, God offers His forgiveness in Christ. Why not accept that forgiveness today?

Happy Birthday!

Have you been hacked?

No matter how diligent you are about security, there’s always a chance you can get hacked. That’s why you need to put a plan in place NOW to protect yourself and your CLIENTS, so damage is minimized. But what should you do if you find out you’ve been hacked?

First, contact your IT department (us) IMMEDIATELY. The faster we can address the attack – and determine the extent of the data, applications and machines compromised – the better your chances are of preventing much bigger problems. We’ll go to work on containing the attack and conducting a full scan of your network.

Based on what we discover, we may advise you to contact the local FBI office and your attorney. Your legal responsibilities depend greatly on the type of data accessed. For example, if medical, financial or other confidential records were stolen or accessed, you are legally responsible for notifying affected individuals that their data was compromised (your attorney can best direct you on what you need to do and how to do it).

Cybercrime is at an all-time high, and hackers are setting their sights on small and medium businesses who are “low hanging fruit.” Don’t be their next victim!

Ways to fit exercise into our everyday routines

Regular exercise has many benefits. It can improve our overall health and fitness, reduce our risk for chronic conditions, such as diabetes or heart disease, and boost our mental and emotional well-being. Adults are encouraged to get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise – or 75 minutes of more vigorous physical activity – each week. For children and teens, experts recommend 60 minutes of exercise daily, with most of it moderate-intensity aerobic activity. The challenge for many of us is how to make physical activity part of our regular routine, without it feeling like a chore.

The following tips can help us stay on track:
Make small, simple changes. Every bit of extra activity helps. Try taking the stairs instead of the elevator, walk over to a co-worker’s desk instead of sending an email, or park further away from where you are going and walk the rest of the way
Find a buddy or group. Having someone to exercise with can provide motivation and make activities more enjoyable. Consider joining a group exercise class, walking club or rec sports team.
Keep track of your progress. Being able to see how far you’ve come can help you stay motivated and allows you to celebrate your successes. Personal fitness devices make it easier than ever to track your daily activity.
Change things up. Keep things fresh by trying different activities, or listen to music to keep from getting bored.
Plan for bad weather. Join a gym you can use when you need to exercise indoors, or find a shopping mall where you can walk year-round. As an employer, you can do your part to encourage employees to be more active, both at work and at home.

Strength for Today

Blessed is the man who believes in, trusts in, and relies on the Lord, and whose hope and confidence the Lord is. For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters that spreads out its roots by the river; and it shall not see and fear when heat comes; but its leaf shall be green. It shall not be anxious and full of care in the year of drought, nor shall it cease yielding fruit.-Jeremiah 17:7-8

When Jesus instructed us not to worry about tomorrow, He was saying that we should deal with life one day at a time. He gives us the strength we need as we need it. When we take that strength He gives us and apply it to worry instead of action, we rob ourselves of the blessing God intended for us to have TODAY-not tomorrow or the next, but today. We miss out on good things because we worry about bad things that may not even come to be!

For several years, a woman had trouble getting to sleep at night because she fear burglars. One night her husband heard a noise in the house, so he went downstairs to investigate. When he got there, he did find a burglar. “Good evening” said the man of the house. “I am pleased to see you. Come upstairs and meet my wife. She has been waiting ten years to meet you.”

Dont waste precious time with worry.

SELF DISCIPLINE

SELF DISCIPLINE“But the fruit of the Spirit is…self-control.” – Galatians 5:23

How many times have you said or done something and immediately
wished you could take it back and have a redo? How many times have you seen the look of hurt on someone’s face and knew you were the one who put it there? Face it. You lost your cool. Or maybe you fell off the diet or alcohol wagon and indulged in that molten chocolate desert or martini and you feel like a failure. Your self-control button was turned off. It happens to the best of us.

But you see, one of the keys to successful living is self-control. That means controlling our emotions, our desires, our passions, and yes, our tongues (what we say or post or comment). Self-control is about self-discipline. The Bible compares it to sports. It says, “Run your race to win. Everyone who competes in the game exercises self-control in all things.”  Self-control is essential to success in sports, as well as in living.

Let’s look at a few tips to help when our self-control is lacking:

Identify: Be honest with yourself about where you lack self-control. If you can’t stop yourself from saying ugly things, walk away. Don’t give yourself the opportunity to say or do things you know will hurt others.
Admit: If you have an addiction, admit it. That’s always the first step in recovery.
Ask: Then ask God for self-discipline.
Act: Finally, take action on that discipline, one day at a time.Self-control is one of the fruits of the Spirit. It’s one of the ways by which others will know that you are a child of God. Take a minute to read the entire verse in Galatians 5:22-23.
What other fruits of the Spirit do you need to IdentifyAdmitAsk, and Act?
